'Skies were so dark', 2011

Framed archival newspaper, black cotton, vinyl lettering

Kim Fasher & Sarah Mosca (SuperKaleidoscope)

This artwork explores the precarious divide between greatness and failure through the lens of the Cold War space race. Central to the piece is Yuri Gagarin — a symbol of Soviet achievement and curated memory. While he was celebrated, others vanished into state-sanctioned silence. The work questions who gets remembered, who gets forgotten, and how ambition can teeter into erasure.
