MOP PROJECTS, SYDNEY, 2012

CURATED BY KIM FASHER AND SARAH MOSCA (SUPERKALEIDOSCOPE)

CRIENA COURT, MICHAELA GLEAVE, GEMMA MESSIH, SUPERKALEIDOSCOPE (KIM FASHER & SARAH MOSCA) AND MARIAN TUBBS.

This exhibition explores the shifting relationship between photography, sculpture, and the consumption of images in the digital age. Emerging from a collaborative dialogue between the artists, the exhibition delves into the evolving nature of photographic representation, raising questions about authenticity, reality, and the act of observation.

The artists examine the paradoxes that arise in presenting photographs as both images and objects whilst exploring the performative and sculptural potential of photographs in contemporary practice. Through a diverse range of works, the artists highlight how photographs, as both image and object, engage with space, materiality, and perception.

Ultimately, the exhibition poses questions about the act of observing, the nature of photographic representation, and the evolving role of images in a world increasingly dominated by digital consumption.
