Sketches for Missing Mythologies, 2024

Collaged archival pigment ink prints on cotton rag, charcoal on Hahnemuhle, concrete, air dried clay, shells, stone, wood

“We were still embedded in a kaleidoscope, ruthlessly varied and continuous, until the end of the end. I knew I would forget this within the hour, and then remember, and forget, and remember. Each time I remembered it would be a tiny miracle, and forgetting was just as important”. MIRANDA JULY

In the liminal space of motherhood, women navigate a metamorphosis of self, where the contours of identity blur and redefine. “Sketches for Missing Mythologies” is a work that considers the conflict within that process,  between shedding skins and the tender discoveries that come amidst the chaos of moving shapes.

This work was awarded second prize in the Gosford Art Prize, 2024
