POSSIBILITY OF VIOLENCE
COLLABORATIVE WORK - KIM & HARRIE FASHER, 2025
In Possibility of Violence, Kim and Harrie explore the theme of female anger. The artists have sourced wild clay from an old quarry near their studio, inviting different women to wedge portions of the clay—kneading, cutting, and slamming it to remove air bubbles in a deliberate, attentive act. Large boulders are then dropped from a height onto the clay surfaces, their violent impacts leaving lasting impressions. These indents are then cast in bronze, transforming the injury into beauty.
The work examines anger as both a personal and universal force. Much like gravity, anger is an undeniable power, shaping and reshaping our internal and external worlds. The marks left by the boulders embody the raw energy of anger, capturing its immediacy and its enduring consequences. Through the casting of these impressions in bronze, the work challenges us to view rage not as mere destruction, but as a force of creation and regeneration.
